Mount Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa. It rises 5895 meters above sea level, and it is the highest free-standing mountain in the world. It is a volcanic mountain, meaning that it was formed through successive volcanic eruptions, as opposed to mountains like the Himalayas which were formed through tectonic activity. Mt. Kilimanjaro is one of the largest volcanic mountains in the world. With an area of 756 square kilometers, Kilimanjaro National Park was established in 1973 to preserve the mountain's outstanding scenic features and its flora and fauna.

ITINERARIES | Frequently Asked Questions | Prices

6 Days / 5 Nights Itinerary (Machame / Western Breach) We recommend the Machame route for most travelers, because taking an extra day during the climb allows for a slower pace, and gives hikers more time to adjust to the altitude, which reduces altitude sickness
5 Days / 4 Nights - (Umbwe Route / Mweka Route) Many customers use this route to descend instead of ascend. Either way it is after Mweka the next steepest route. It is also quite scenic and relatively infrequently used.
8 Days / 7 Nights Itinerary (Lemosho Down Mweka Route)This is much more attractive and exciting wilderness route.
8 Days / 7 Nights Itinerary {Machame-Western Breach) The Machame route approaches Kilimanjaro through forest and moorland from the south - west and joins the Shira route before traversing beneath the southern ice fields of Kibo.
7 Days / 6 Nights Itinerary (Machame / Mweka Route) Scenic, some say the most beautiful.
5 Days / 4 Nights Itinerary (Marangu / Marangu Route) The main and most popular way up
5 Days / 4 Nights Itinerary ( Rongai / Marangu Route) We avoid the crowded Marangu route on Kilimanjaro, preferring to approach the mountain from the north by the lightly used Rongai route.
6 Days / 5 Nights Itinerary (Rongai / Marangu Route) The Rongai route starts just south of Kenya- Tanzania border and has been almost unused for many years because the area was considered sensitive. Now open for climbing once again, experienced guides consider this ascent route to be both easier and more beautiful than the main Marangu trail.

Besides the peaks and moorland, the park consists of montage forest with relics of old vegetation. Also, significant numbers of mammals, birds, and insects inhabit the area. Mammals include elephants, buffaloes, elands, duickers, foxes, leopards, baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys. The area is also frequented by a variety of colourful birds.

The outstanding features are three major volcanic centers: SHIRA in the west (3962 metres). MAWENZI in the east (5149 metres), and snow - capped KIBO in the middle (5895 metres). The most recent volcano.
